Simple Nacho Chips

This is a recipe for nachos to include making the tortilla chips as well as the nacho sauce to go with the chips.

Chips alone are just tortilla chips. Tortilla chips are very easy to make and far better made fresh than anything out of the bag. Tortilla chips used with the nacho sauce are referred to as nacho chips.

Tortilla Chips

  • 10 corn tortillas
  • kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • Large frying pan

Heat the oil in a frying pan. Cut the tortillas into pie wedges. Fry the tortillas in hot oil until crisp. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Nacho Sauce

  • 12 ounces Velveeta cheese
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • Microwave safe bowl

Cut Velveeta up into small cubes and place in bowl. Pour in salsa and stir. Cover and place in microwave on high for 1 minute. Carefully take it out and stir it. Cover again and place on medium for another 90 seconds.

Be sure to heat this prior to serving as this will eventually solidify or keep in a warming dish to keep it viable for dipping if guests will be helping themselves to it for more than an hour.
