Make Your Own US-Style French Dressing
For all who are wondering about the distinction US-Sytle French dressing, let me tell you a funny story. Whilst in the UK, I did a lot of the cooking for my family and went through the markets getting the ingredients to cook the meals. I wanted to serve a salad and know the only type of salad dressing my husband likes is "French" dressing. I soon discovered that "French" dressing in the UK and across Europe is an entirely different product altogether. What we know in the US as "French" dressing is unknown over there - nothing even comes close. When I tried to describe exactly what I was looking for to the store clerks, they looked rather repulsed at the description.
US-Style French dressing looks like runny ketchup. Whilst UK/Europe French dressing resembles US-Style creamy Italian dressing.
