If you love hot stuff or know of someone who likes things kicked up a notch, buy them one of the lines of hot sauces made by TABASCO ®.

TABASCO ® brand pepper sauce is made with three simple ingredients: fully-aged red pepper, high grain all-natural vinegar, and a small amount of salt mined right on Avery Island. It's pure pepper sauce—no additives whatsoever.

McIlhenny Company has been turning out TABASCO ® Sauce since its founding in 1868. It owes the recipe to family patriarch Edmund McIlhenny who planted the first red pepper plants on Avery Island in the 1860's. He later invented the famous sauce.

Why is TABASCO ® different from other hot sauces?

First, it's a special variety of fully-aged red pepper. Then it's the process. The pepper mash is allowed to ferment and age for up to three years in white oak barrels, much like fine wine, and every batch is personally inspected for color and aroma by a member of the McIlhenny family before final production. This time-honored method assures the unique flavor of TABASCO ® Sauce, which is now recognized around the world.

And because TABASCO ® Sauce is highly concentrated and so rich in flavor, you use it more sparingly than other pepper sauces-so a bottle lasts a long time! (The average TABASCO ® sauce user consumes one two-ounce bottle in just short of one year.)

TABASCO ® Sauce is used all over the world as a condiment "by the drop," or "by the teaspoon" as a recipe ingredient. It is a preferred flavor enhancer for many different kinds of foods.

TABASCO ® Sauce can be substituted in any recipe which calls for black pepper. To what degree you use it depends on your individual taste and the level of spicy flavor you prefer. Remember, one drop will work wonders when added to your finished soups, salads, main dishes....the uses are limitless!

I personally use TABASCO ® Sauce in cheese sauce for macaroni and cheese or for nacho sauce. I also like to use it on my eggs, as part of a marinade or in salad dressing, and especially with vienna sausages. Everything goes great with TABASCO ® Sauce:-)
