Sometimes it is handy to have pre-made combinations of spices that are well suited for certain dishes. You could buy the store varieties, but there are many drawbacks to that including not knowing how fresh the spices are when they go in, how long it has been on the shelves, or even how much salt or MSG might be in it.

If you are going to make your own spice blends, you will want to invest in a spice or coffee grinder just working with spices. Also, make sure you have airtight spice jars handy to put them in.
