Make It Yourself
Onion Dip
- 1 large white onion
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 4 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 pint sour cream
Dice the onion into small pieces on a plate so you may retain the juices.
In a frying pan on high heat, pour in the oil and let get hot. Add the onions with the juice and flavour with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Stir quickly until the onions get brown. Remove from heat and let drain on paper towels until cool.
In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream with the cooled onions until evenly distributed. Cool in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before serving. Will keep up to 3 days.
Of course, if you want the shortcut, get a package of Lipton's Onion Soup Mix (or close generic brand) with a pint of sour cream and stir until blended. Refrigerate at least 30 minutes before serving.
